CHECK 01 OF 50

Do you understand the internal and external factors that shape your compliance program?

Consider your activities, operating locations, business relationships, regulatory environment, resources and culture.

What evidence could support my answer?

A current context analysis showing the issues that affect your program and how they inform its design.

How well does your program do this?

Record a reference or next step; you do not need to upload documents.

Answer for what happens in practice. Choose the lowest level that describes the whole check. A policy alone does not show that a process works. “I’m not sure” is useful too—it identifies evidence to gather.

What your results mean

A guide to improvement

These original questions summarize requirement areas in clauses 4–10 of ISO 37301:2021, including Amendment 1:2024. They are a screening tool, not an exhaustive audit checklist, a conformity decision, or an ISO certification. Use the standard and a qualified assessment to verify conformity.

A score with context

Each check has equal weight: 0 (not in place) to 4 (reviewed and effective). The index is total points ÷ maximum possible points × 100. Unknown and skipped checks create a lower-to-upper range; they are never silently excluded. The scale and priority rules are Sherpa’s, not ISO’s.

Your answers remain yours

This tool processes answers in your browser and does not send them to our team. Device saving is optional. Results and recommendations are based on your answers; no evidence has been independently verified.

Edition basis: ISO 37301:2021, first edition, April 2021. Annex A is guidance, not an additional set of scored requirements. Includes Amendment 1:2024: a scored climate-relevance determination under 4.1 and clarification of the stakeholder check under 4.2. The 4.2 note is not scored as a separate requirement. ISO does not endorse this tool.
